Anxiety And Panic Attacks And You

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Panic Attacks Explained…

A panic attack comes on rapidly, with a burst of panic and anxiety. Often, attacks happen without forewarning and without any obvious cause. In some situations, panic attacks are a common daily dilemma while in others they are more unusual. In people with numerous panic attack episodes, this may be a sign of a relationship connecting the panic and a place or situation. While it is usually safe, panic attacks can severely disable someone physically, emotionally and psychologically. Panic attacks may even progress into the more serious type of panic disorder.

Who gets panic attacks?

Panic attacks touch the lives of many people. It is thought that 10% of the whole population is suffering from panic attacks, yet many are still undiagnosed or under-diagnosed. Many sufferers of panic attacks are young adults. Female are twice as prone to have an attack as male. Some scientists suggest that panic attacks run in family and may be genetic.

What Are The Symptoms Of A Panic Attack?

If you are having a panic attack, there will be numerous signs. They include raised heartbeat or palpitation, chest pain, hyperventilation or shortness of breath, stomach churning, upset stomach, trembling and shaking, muscle tension, sweating, dizziness and light-, hot or cold flashes, tingling sensation or numbness, fear of dying, going crazy or losing control and feeling detached from the surroundings.

The signs and symptoms of panic attacks are similar to a heart attack. Panic attacks seldom lead to long term injury, but heart attacks might. Seeking medical attention is important, particularly if this is the first panic attack you have had.

What Causes Panic Attacks?

Many panic attacks transpire without any apparent reason; they just come by chance. In other cases, an event or situation in the person’s life can be to blame for the onset of panic attacks. An attack might occur when a person is exposed to different events or situations almost similar to the past that might “trigger” panic.

Stress is also recognized to have an effect on anxiety and panic. From life events to traumatic working or living environment, all of these can be triggers. Genes and heredity may also play a role in panic and anxiety.

What to Do In A Panic Attack

Panic attacks peak from 5 to 10 minutes; it rarely lasts for more than half an hour.If you are having a panic attack, you are probably experiencing a number of the symptoms above. During a panic attack, you may wish to control your breathing to maintain your heart rate down. You should be taking slow, deep breaths. Breathe in while counting to three and breathe out while counting to three.

Do this until you’re calm. If you can stand up, walk around slowly. Some folks like breathing in to a paper bag. By doing so, you can re-inhale your carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide helps fix the blood acid level that had been disturbed by excessive breathing.

Be certain to clear your mind of the immediate stress while doing this exercise. Replace the stressful thoughts with calm ones. Diversion might also help keep your mind off of the panic trigger.

Dream Of Being Chased

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

To be chased in dreams is generally the result of old memories, past experiences, fears and situations that are out of our control or one of the many tasks we are faced with in our everyday life.

One can compare being stalkedchased in a dream to the feelings we experience from being pressured and followed around by a nagging voice repeatedly reminding us of what has to be taken care of in our daily routines. Feeling chased can stem from the overwhelming responsibility of maintaining a healthy marriage, relationships, careers, workplace, work flow, family, and our financial responsibilities.

As though this weren’t enough, to compound these mind blinding pressures with unpleasant past memories, new changes and guilt are our constant companions. The addition of health problems, fears, depression, anxiety that individually or together are overwhelming forces that can contribute to dreams of being chased.

Some Of The Major Causes Of Being Chased In Dreams-The are hundreds of reasons that result in dreams of being chased, the major ones seem to be painful memories, troubled marriages, unpleasant experiences, difficult relationships, stifling working environments, unreasonable employers, financial problems, health issues, anxiety, depression and fear.

Although these are among the major causes of chase dreams, being chased by a group, mob, known, a seen or unseen enemy, unfamiliar person, beast or acts of nature rank very high in chase dreams.

Yet, knowing all the reasons that cause us to experience dreams of being chased, it is rare when a dream reveals to the dreamer the root cause of their particular chase dream experiences. This is because for the most part we dream in events, occurrences, signs, symbols and illusions. And because of this, the true reason for the dream is hidden and camouflaged in the dream itself.

In order to better understand your chase dreams, it is important to understand the meaning of the emotions the dreamer felt both during and after the dream ends and upon dreamer waking up. By understanding your emotions, the dreamer will better be able to dissect and unravel the real meaning of why the dreamer dreamt this type of dream.

This may partially be accomplished by learning how to recognize the clues: personality traits, action(s) in the dream by the dreamer and against the dreamer. In regards to emotional colors: what is spoken, read, what is depicted in body language and facial expressions all add to enhancing a more meaningful interpretation of your dream and what the dream message has for your life.

On the other side of the coin, dreams of being chased by a wind represents a demonic attack through whispers, gossip, lies, back stabbing and betrayal by another or others escalated out of control. This kind of attack often leaves the dreamer confused, doubtful, fearful, depressed and experiencing panic attacks of anxiety.

How To Plan A Triumphant Golf Tournament

Friday, June 4th, 2010

When you are planning a golf tournament, you’ll almost certainly feel lost and overwhelmed at times. It’s a huge job! There are a few steps you can take, however, to help encourage the tournament to go more smoothly. If you take your time and plan things well, you can make sure you meet your deadlines and keep to your budget and all will be well.

Watch your deadlines. You want to plan everything ahead of schedule. You need cushions of time. This will let you save money.

If you pair your efforts, and plan things in advance, you save tons of time. You don’t want to make any errors or miscalculations that require expensive last-minute adjustments. Besides, when things change last minute it makes your event seem chaotic and awkward. That is not a good thing. Make sure everyone on your planning board either has extensive experience with golf or is paired with another member who does.

There should be committees of 15 people each. You want the committees to be responsible to enlist two hole sponsors, and two full teams. These are clear, concrete, reachable goals which allow success.

What if you do all of the planning right, but then you have a poor turnout? It doesn’t mean you have a bad event. It is just that your marketing was lacking.

Avoid this problem by creating a website for attendees and organizers. This gets your word out plus also lets you order products in advance. You want to plan to have delivery a week ahead of schedule.

Location is crucial to success. Book your tournament at a high-quality course. If you choose the wrong course and it is laid out poorly or not maintained well, then the tournament will be a disappointment to all despite your best efforts.

Dreams Of Friends

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

I received a dream from a young ambitious woman named Suzy. When relating the dream to me, she thought the dream was about her and because of the substance of the dream she was very alarmed. After hearing the revelation of the dream, she was pleasantly surprised to find out that the dream was not about her at all, but directed for a close friend she had known for many years.

The dream opens at night with Suzy on the outside of her friend’s house standing on the lawn focused at the front door. After a moment, she slowly ascends up the steps, crosses the wooden porch and enters the house. Entering the darkly lit house, Suzy’s friend meets her and together they transverse down a hallway and into her friend’s bathroom. Inside the bathroom, Suzy asks her friend how her mother was doing; to which her friend replied that her mother was dead, and that she had killed herself in that very same bathroom.

Surprised at the news, Suzy searched around the bathroom looking for any telltale signs of the mother’s suicide: the bathroom was clean with absolutely no trace of a suicide; there was no blood. Her friend watching her looks around the bathroom and tells Suzy that she had cleaned up the bathroom after her mother’s death.

Quietly listening to her friend, Suzy watched the bathroom suddenly change from the bathroom in her friend’s house to her own bathroom. As she watched the transformation, she had the odd feeling that they were still standing in her friend’s bathroom. The only difference was that the bathroom they were in was freshly painted a bright white, and the bathroom door was now opened inward, hiding the inside of the bathroom door.

Looking around the bathroom, Suzy watched her friend walk over and close the bathroom door revealing blood stains that covered the entire interior surface of the bathroom door. Unaffected by the blood-covered door, Suzy’s friend picks up a clean white towel walks back over and joins Suzy in the middle of the bathroom. Surprised at the sight of the blood stained surface of the door, Suzy stands there, not knowing what to do.

At this point, Suzy’s friend turns to her and says, “I’ll clean this up.” Then turning away from Suzy, she walked back over to the door and with the towel, and started to wipe the blood off the door. But was unable to, no matter how hard she tried, the blood remained and she only was able to smear the blood across the surface of the door. At this point, woke up.

The Interpretation Of The Dream Using Each Key Word Night / Darkness represents uncertainty, fear and the unknown for Suzy in regard for her friend. Outside the House represents freedom, escape and safety. Suzy standing on the lawn of the front yard represents her willingness to help her friend. Old House represents memories, members of the family and old friendships. Old house also represents the mending of old problems and disputes. To see an Old house in a dream also represents sickness, failing health, and even the death of someone dear to the dreamer or someone the dreamer know, especially if the old house is run-down or in need of repair.

The house also represented an old friend, who is in spiritual and emotional distress. On the outside of the house are several steps leading up to a wooden porch and the front door.

After standing outside the house for a few moments, Suzy climbs the steps, walks across the porch, opens the front door and enters her friend’s home. The Steps Leading Up To the Porch represent insight, understanding, revelation, decision, and the answer to a situation or problem that seems to have no answer. Steps also represent change and a new beginning. In Suzy’s dream, the steps represent a decision that will lead to a fresh start and a new beginning for her friend.

The Outcome Of The Dream

This dream unlike many of the other dreams of this nature had a good outcome. After Suzy received the interpretation of her dream, she went to her friend’s home and told her of the dream. Her friend began crying and confessed the affair she was having with a married man and her futile efforts to try to end the affair. With Suzy’s help and counsel to her friend, Suzy’s friend ended the affair and she soon returned to her normal life.

What Is Personal Development?

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

The Personal Development industry has exploded in recent years. It’s such a broad topic that people are often left wondering, what exactly is Personal Development?

When you boil it down, Personal Development is really about investing in your own personal growth, about becoming a better person. Now this is not just some new fad, in it’s essence we have all been involved in some form of Personal Development for most of our lives. From our first day in kindergarten to short courses to further our skills. You see, Personal Development is really just education. This learning has 2 main forms, structured and unstructured.

We could break our school lessons into two different fields. Personal and Professional Development. Any lessons that were applicable to succeeding in our working life, formed our Professional Development. Religious/Spiritual studies, school rules, where forms of Personal Development, teaching us how to get the most out of our lives and how to treat ourselves and other people.

However, if we’re talking about the modern Personal Development industry then it is focus is more on understanding who we really are, finding our true potential and living a life filled with more passion and joy.

Competition today is higher than it has ever been, there are more people vying for the same job and looking for the next promotion. In the past getting the edge on those around you was a simple case of being more skilled in a certain area. Back then, knowledge was power. With the advent of the internet and easy access to knowledge, power is now the application of knowledge. And so the new “edge” is having personal power, confidence and leadership skills.

Inadvertently this race to excel and beat the next person has lead people to discover more about who they are and to follow their happiness and their bliss. We are discovering at a very fast rate that the best way to be successful is not to climb over and beat down those around us but instead it is to focus on what we are good at and do that which brings us the most joy. There are of course always some exceptions to the rule, but if you look at the majority of the BIG earners in our society, those that are successful in all areas of their life, finances, health, relationships, they are doing what they love and are giving great VALUE to those around them.

In my opinion, this is really the essence of Personal Development. It’s taking a journey to discover what makes you joyful, what you’re passionate about and that bring out your inner genius. It’s about overcoming your fears and replacing old limiting beliefs with new powerful concepts. If you take this journey and implement what you learn into your life you find it filled with more abundance, abundance of happiness, health and wealth.

For as long as there have been people, we have had Personal Development. If we go back through time, all the big names in philosophy were basically Personal Development teachers. They tried to discover more meaning in our lives and essentially helped people to live more fulfilling lives.

The Personal Development industry has experienced tremendous growth in the last 10-20years. Worldwide, It’s currently estimated to worth around US$22Billion and increasing at a rate of 20% every year! Anthony “Tony” Robbins is practically a household name. “The Secret” book and movie has become a worldwide phenomenon. Personal Development has been hit the mainstream and it’s here to stay.

Please keep in mind that you don’t need to get caught up in all the hype, that does work for some people, but others may be a quieter and not really into all the group hugs, “high fives”, chanting and walking on fire. We are all different and what works for me and the teachers I relate to may not work for you. So spend some time looking around for the guide/mentor that you feel most comfortable with. The same holds true for what media you use, some people love audio, others video, and there are millions of books out there. Go down to your local library or book shop and have a look, surf around the internet for a while and see if anything inspires you. Just find what works for you.

You could start with some of the classic teachers like Napoleon Hill, Earl Knightingale or Wallace D. Wattles. More modern guides include Abraham-Hicks, Eckhart Tolle and Bob Proctor. Whatever choices you make, as long as you take a little action you can start bringing your dream life one step closer.
